Gelflings

A race of gentle, elfin-like creatures with impish eyes and sudden smiles, they are presumed to have been exterminated to thwart an ancient prophecy, which is depicted on the Wall of Destiny among the Gelfling ruins. They sang and danced, creating joy in their lives.

Under the fringe of thick hair is a countenance made almost triangular by their wide cheekbones that taper to a small chin. Their large eyes are set well apart, on either side of a flattish nose. Their faces are framed by long hair, through which pointed ears protrude.

Gelfllings have the power to dreamfast.  When they touch one another something like an electric charge is exchanged between them, and simultaneously their minds are welded into a single controlled, articulated like conversation, not random, gushing.  They exchange and share images.  As the images are transmitted, both Gelflings have the knowledge that each is receiving the other's image exactly as though the exchange is taking place at the level of speech, where one would describe and see the other listen, respond, and acknowledge.  And yet not a word is spoken between them.  Only their clasped hands communicate.

"Dreamfasting through the touch of hands" does not necessarily apply to living hands only.

The whole world has assumed that only one Gelfling still lived on Thra.  If there are two, might there not be still more in some other corner of the planet?  It is thrilling to think so.

Ages ago, Gelfling could fly.  Now, only female Gelfling can flutter down.

Representations of the Great Conjunction abound in all Gelfling art.  The most common symbol shows the Eye of the superimposed suns -- Great, Rose, and Dying -- with inscribed triangles, the whole seen through a greater triangle that is the roof portal of the castle of the urSkeks.
