Landstriders

Friends of Kira, the Landstriders were bitter enemies of the Garthim warriors. Less powerful than the Garthim, they compensated with speed and intelligence. When a Landstrider fell in battle, its flesh was highly prized by the Skeksis, who considered it a great delicacy.

Beasts of swift passage, they have walrus moustaches, floppy ears, giraffe legs, and courageous hearts. These unusual creatures allow themselves to be tamed so they can be ridden and subjected to the will of the rider. Their fiercest joy is destruction of the Garthim.

Kira can call the Landstriders with a strange string of chirps and clicks.

Landstriders are catlike beasts with long, stiff legs. Rangy in action, creamy in color, with long whiskers.

They hate the Skeksis. And the Garthim--they fight!

The Landstriders never falter in their pace.

They can travel across wide plains, through powdery craters, up and down hills, along ravines, and can also leap across rivers. They are sinuous across landscape.

To deliver their assault, they spring from their hind legs so as to drive their front ones into the hated foe.
